A Thames restaurant is marking the beginning of the grouse
season, which starts on August 12th, with a special meal featuring
a bottle of Burgundy's pride Romanee-Conti
Grands Echezeaux.
Four people will be able to dine on grouse and fine wine at High
Timber for a price of £1,050 - a considerable reduction from the
wine's normal restaurant price of £1,900, according to
foodepedia.co.uk.
"I use these words very carefully when I say this is the
opportunity of a lifetime to experience a wine with such an
incredible – and well deserved – reputation," commented Nelee
Strauss, the owner of the restaurant.
However, the Drinks Business noted that, for those who would
rather skip the meal and go straight to the wine, a bottle of
Romanee-Conti Grands Echezeaux 1999 can be bought for £602
from FINE+RARE.
Earlier this year, the Romanee-Conti vineyard was targeted in a
blackmail attack after a criminal threatened to poison the vines
unless owner Aubert de Villaine handed over €1 million
(£833,000).
