More Bordeaux en primeur 2009 prices announced
The Bordeaux en primeur 2009 campaign continues with more premium chateaux releasing their prices, some showing considerable increases even on 2005.
La Mission Haut-Brion has named its price at €540 (£443) per bottle to negociants, The Drinks Business reports, while critics' favourite Latour is selling at €600 (£493).
Meanwhile, Haut-Brion has also released at €600 a bottle and Margaux has joined Lafite and Mouton-Rothschild in selling at €550 (£451).
All of these represent steep rises compared with 2008, with many pegged at more than 300 per cent of the price of that vintage, but perhaps more surprisingly they are also considerably higher than Bordeaux's last great year, 2005.
Riding on the prestige of a great year, many chateaux's second wines like Carruades de Lafite, Forts de Latour, Le Petit Mouton and Clarence Haut-Brion are also priced well above normal, according to the news provider.
The Drinks Business recently advised that chateau Marjosse could be an affordable pick for 2009, with an average critics' score of 88.5.
