Margaux goes down well at record-breaking auction
Wine auctioneer Acker Merrall & Condit has raised more than HK $150 million (£13 million) at an event in Hong Kong which saw Eric Greenberg's extensive collection sold.

The auction, which set a new Asian record and is believed to be the second-largest wine sale ever, featured a "super lot" of 360 bottles from chateau Margaux's private cellar.

Meanwhile, five separate lots supplied directly by chateau Margaux were sold for just over HK $3 million (£260,000) with the proceeds going towards the restoration of the Great Wall of China.

"It is an honour and privilege to share my collection and passion for wine with Asia," commented Mr Greenberg.

"This auction is a true indication that Hong Kong is the future of fine wine."

Mr Greenberg's collection is not without controversy - in 2007, the Silicon Valley entrepreneur was sued by collector William Koch, who claimed that 11 bottles consigned to him were or could be fakes.
