Manchester United manager sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has developed a passion for the finest wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
Speaking to Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Scot said that the top French wines, such as those from Bordeaux and Burgundy, are his favourite styles and remain the best in the world.
However, Sir Alex noted that he also has a fondness for the wines of Italy, citing Super Tuscans and the Barolos and Barbarescos of Piedmont as personal favourites.
"The rest of the world also has some fabulous wines, in Australia [Shiraz Penfolds Grange], Chile [Concha Y Toro Don Melchor], Argentina [Malbec], Napa Valley [Screaming Eagle]," he told the publication.
Sir Alex is known to enjoy sharing a glass of wine with opposing managers after games, accepting a bottle of vintage Port from former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as an apology for serving a poor bottle at a previous match.
