Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), the owner of Moet and Chandon and Veuve Cliquot brands, has reported an "excellent" start to 2011, with champagne sales in particular contributing 13 per cent revenue growth overall.
Prestige cuvees, including Dom Perignon and Krug, experienced rapid growth in the first six months of 2011, along with the company's still and sparkling wine brands, while Hennessy cognac also recorded a strong performance.
Sales of wines and spirits brought in €1,435 million for LVMH overall, compared with €1,302 million in the corresponding period the previous year.
"We approach the second half of the year with confidence and are relying upon the creativity and quality of our products as well as the effectiveness of our teams to pursue further market share gains," said Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH.
It follows the announcement that Moet & Chandon is introducing a new champagne product, Ice Imperial, which is designed to be served over ice.
