Oenophiles looking for dinner with an exquisite wine list may wish to try the Linthwaite House Hotel in Cumbria.
The venue has been named the winner of the Conde Nast Johansens Champagne Taittinger Wine List of the Year award, Harpers Wine & Spirit Trades Review reports.
Linthwaite House was recognised as having the best selection of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne in the country by the judges, which included Justin Llewelyn, ambassador for Champagne at Taittinger and Sarah-Jane Evans, wine editor of BBC Good Food and Olive Magazine.
"A really well put together list which is easy to read, educational as well as humorous and a joy to handle," was how judges described the venue's wine list to the publication.
Taittinger vineyard president Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger recently proclaimed to Bloomberg wine critic Elin McCoy that the big Champagne labels will always retain their popularity as they are icons akin to movie stars.
