La Mission Haut Brion, the sister property to Chateau Haut Brion, has released its 2010 vintage en primeur and perhaps surprisingly has matched the prices of First Growths Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Margaux.
Decanter reports that the wine, which is available from FINE+RARE at £3,500 for six bottles, has followed a number of Bordeaux's other "lesser" high-end properties by setting the bar higher this year - although the decision to match first growth wines will certainly raise some eyebrows.
Meanwhile, Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, one of 2010's most widely-praised wines, has dropped in price somewhat, along with Cos d'Estournel - currently available from FINE+RARE for £2,180 per case.
However, it remains to be seen whether the reductions will be enough to stimulate early demand for these wines.
"Ducru is the best St Julien this year so we will be encouraging our customers to buy," Simon Davies of FINE+RARE told the publication.
