Newly-wealthy Indians are developing a taste for fine wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, it appears.
According to Bloomberg, the emerging Indian middle class are looking to enjoy "the good life" that they are starting to experience through European holidays.
The key to experiencing this new way of living is entertaining friends at home, the publication suggests. This is creating a new group of individuals keen to sample the best Bordeaux or Burgundy.
Rohan Jelkhie, a bartending instructor with Tulleeho, told the news provider: "There is a certain set of people that are becoming more discerning.
They know what quality is. With drinks, there was a time when people would have anything they were given, but not anymore."
These claims back up comments made recently by wine investment expert Sonal Holland.
Ms Holland told Business Standard last month that Indian investors are showing an increasing interest in the value of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
