Wine tourists looking for a little "vinotherapie" should
investigate Les Sources de Caudalie, a hotel and spa in the grounds
of chateau Smith Haut Lafitte, a journalist has suggested.
In the Daily Telegraph, Jonathan Ray said the "weird and
wonderful" family-owned Bordeaux hotel offers such treatments as the
Crushed Cabernet Scrub, Pulp Friction Relaxing Massage with Fresh
Grapes and a Barrel Bath with Red Vine Wrap.
Alice Tourbier, who manages the location with her husband, said
wine tourism is still underdeveloped in France but the hotel has
gone from strength to strength in its 11-year history.
"It's been a huge success with folk coming from all over the
world to walk among the vines, drink the estate wines, and those of
our rivals which we're equally proud to serve, and to enjoy our
trademark vinotherapie treatments," she told the newspaper.
Anthony Ward, the owner of Vondeling Wines in South Africa,
recently revealed to the Times that chateau Smith Haut Laffite is
his favourite French wine.
