French wine still reigns supreme, survey finds
It may not come as much of a surprise, but the home of chateau Mouton Rothschild and Coche Dury is still regarded as the country where the best wines in the world are produced.

A survey by research firm Wine Intelligence found that 4,000 regular drinkers in the UK, US and Switzerland all agree that France is the top dog in the world of wine, decanter.com reports.

The poll also revealed the breakdown of how different countries perceive others - the UK considers Australia and Italy to be the runners-up, while perhaps unsurprisingly the US prefers California and ranked Australia further down the list.

Meanwhile, the Swiss seem to prefer their own produce, followed by Italy, Spain and California.

In February, Wine Intelligence advised global producers of fine wine to raise their games and concentrate on getting the most out of their greatest vineyards if they want to compete with the likes of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
