French film depicts drama in Bordeaux chateau

A new film which uses Chateau Clos Fourtet in Bordeaux as its primary setting will open in French cinemas next month.

Tu Seras Mon Fils, starring Niels Arestrup and Lorant Deutsch, tells the story of the conflicts between a chateau owner and his son, and real employees of the Saint Emilion estate were used as extras, Decanter reports.

Matthieu Cuvelier, owner of Clos Fourtet, said the film has "beautiful scenery, is well written, and the story flows nicely", although he expressed doubt that such a wine-centric film will be a big commercial hit.

Nevertheless, admirers of the scenery and culture of Bordeaux are likely to find plenty to enjoy when the film opens in cinemas on August 24th.

It is not the first time wine has played a starring role on the silver screen - recent examples include the 2008 film Bottle Shock, in which Alan Rickman stars in a retelling of the 1976 Judgement of Paris, and the 2004 comedy Sideways.
