Festival De Bach à Bacchus is returning once again to the village of Meursault to highlight the beautiful combination of wine and music.
The festival has been an annual occurance in the Burgundy village since 1986, and visitors to the event get to take a guided tour of the village as well as its surrounding vineyards. This provides an idyllic opportunity to explore the characteristics of the wine in a comfortable setting surrounded by music and culture.
One particular event that stands out this year is a concert on the theme of "Climats de Bourgogne" at the Church of Meursault to honor the candidacy of Climats de Bourgogne at the UNESCO World Heritage. Burgundy has recently applied to have their 'climat' as a World Heritage site, and the bid will be honoured with this concert which will draw a parallel between Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Bellini, Verdi, and Climats de Bourgogne.
This should be an interesting composition, and very much highlights the relationship between classical music and the terroirs of Burgundy. Both are steeped in history, with refined complexity that deserves to be remembered.
