Dow's 2007 vintage port awarded 100 points
Dow's has received rare top marks from Wine Spectator, after the magazine praised its 2007 vintage port.
The 2007 Dow's has now become one of only 70 wines to ever achieve a perfect 100-point score from the magazine, which described it as "the greatest Dow ever made".
Rupert Symington, joint managing director of Portugal-based Dow's, described the vintage as having a power, complexity and balance that creates a "truly brilliant" port that will improve over the decades.
"We are very proud of this achievement; it is a direct consequence of years of work in our family's vineyards at Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, as well as in our wineries and cellars," he added.
Just 1,200 cases of Dow's 2007 vintage port have been imported into the US through San Francisco since it was produced.
The port was also awarded 94 points from Robert Parker last month.
