The winemaking region of Constantia in South Africa played host to a food and drink festival at the weekend where white wines were the stars of the show.
Constantia Fresh, which took place on February 25th and 26th, featured an international white blend tasting, where South African sauvignon blancs appeared alongside French wines such as Bordeaux’s Domaine de Chevalier Blanc and Chateau Haut Brion Blanc, the South African Independent reports.
Meanwhile, 14 different Constantia and Bordeaux white and red blends were served at a five-course dinner at The Greenhouse restaurant, with executive chef Peter Tempelhof preparing the food.
The Fresh festival, now in its second year, also attracted the participation of local producers including Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Constantia Uitsig, Steenberg, Buitenverwachting, Constantia Glen and Eagles' Nest.
Next month, the Bangalore International Wine Festival will kick off at the Palace Grounds on March 11th, promising three days of tasting sessions, wine appreciation seminars and music.
