An anonymous wine collector has suddenly decided to auction-off hundreds of bottles of fine Bordeaux from his cellar.
The 315 bottles comprise one bottle from each of the post-World War Two vintages from all the First Growth Bordeaux labels - Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Latour, Chateau Haut-Brion and Chateau Margaux, Reuters reports.
All that sellers Christie's will say about the owner is that he is a man in his 60s, and that this is just a small amount of his overall collection.
"He still has quite a lot of wine left. It is, after all, just 315 bottles. Granted one of the rarest collections, but ... when you have thousands of bottles, it isn't very much," Michael Ganne, Christie's wine specialist in Geneva, told the news provider.
This follows news that some fine Bordeaux belonging to fraudster Bernie Madoff is to be put up for sale later this month.
