New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Cloudy Bay is the most listed wine in the UK, according to new research.
According to Australian analyst Wine Business Solutions, Cloudy Bay not only achieved the most listings, but also managed to maintain an average bottle price below £30, the Drinks Business reports.
The firm's research indicates that the popularity of Cloudy Bay is closely linked to the success of the Marlborough region as a whole. The area accounts for around 85 per cent of all the UK-listed wines from New Zealand.
In addition to its Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough produces 16 per cent of the UK's listed Pinot Noir - second only to Burgundy in terms of popularity with UK consumers, the publication reveals.
Cloudy Bay winemaker Nick Lane recently told the New Zealand Herald that the country has developed its sophisticated wine tastes very quickly, as Sauvignon Blanc only really became popular in the 1990s.
