New building projects at Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau Clerc Milon will incorporate the latest technologies to make them more sustainable, the property's owners have revealed at Vinexpo.
The winery buildings at Chateau Cheval Blanc will use a breathable material to encourage natural ventilation and subterranean cellars to reduce the need for air conditioning, Decanter reports.
Meanwhile, the Chateau Mouton Rothschild-owned Clerc Milon incorporates 300 sq m of solar panels, completely covering the property's energy requirements.
"This new winery is part of the same process of focusing quality at the estate, and giving it its own identity," Chateau Mouton Rothschild technical director Philippe Dhalluin told the publication.
"A new label from the 2010 vintage will further underline this."
The next wine auction from Sotheby's in London on July 6th will include the sale of an imperial of Chateau Cheval Blanc 2000, which is expected to command up to £5,500.
