Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite Rothschild are providing the best Bordeaux First Growth investment opportunities at the moment.
Growing interest in these two producers among Asian investors in particular means that it is becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of these wines in Britain and the US, according to Lovethatwine.co.uk.
The wine review website's Pieter Rosenthal explained that First Growths are currently seeing the highest demand.
However, he warned that access could be limited for some investors, because many merchants prioritise allocation to regular customers.
"As a knock-on effect that will also have an impact on Second Growths, so those Bordeaux houses that maybe perhaps previously weren't seen as that solid an investment are potentially now getting better," he added.
Recently published International Wine and Spirit Research figures indicate that wine consumption in the UK is on the rise, growing by 1.1 per cent in 2010.
The data also revealed that consumption increased by 5.5 per cent between 2005 and 2009.
