Of all the fine wines found in cellars across the globe, one expert proclaims that Chateau Petrus 1982 is by far the best.
In an interview with the BBC, Christie's head of fine wine David Elswood is even so bold as to suggest that Chateau Petrus 1982 is considered the pinnacle of winemaking by the majority of wine aficionados.
The feeling is the same at Bonhams auction house, with head of fine wine Anthony Barne telling the broadcaster: "The hallmark is that it's powerful but not heavy.
"It's very well balanced so you don't get a great thump at the beginning or the end."
Yet the corporation finds that Chateau Petrus 1982 is still moderately priced compared with some of the rarer wines on sale in London. Top of the list is a Chateau d'Yquem 1811, a bottle of which will set buyers back some £75,000.
Earlier this year, an imperial bottle of Chateau Petrus 1982 sold for £45,000 at an auction in Hong Kong.
