While 2008 Chateau Mouton Rothschild continues to rocket in value, the 2009 vintage is beginning to lose its appeal.
According to the Drinks Business, 2008 Chateau Mouton Rothschild has increased in value by 192.5 per cent in the last year, while the 2009 vintage has fallen 12 per cent from its release value.
A similar story is developing at Chateau Haut Brion and Barnaire-Ducru, which have both seen their 2009 bottles lose 11 per cent of their value since release.
No such problems are being found over at the Chateau Lafite Rothschild vineyard, however.
Thanks to immense popularity in China, 2009 Chateau Lafite Rothschild is now 26 per cent more valuable than it was when it was released, while the 2008 is now a staggering 315.1 per cent more expensive than it was in November 2009.
This trebling in value has been sparked by the vineyard's decision to put the Chinese symbol for the number 8 - considered extremely lucky in Chinese culture - on its 2008 bottle.
