The owner of Chateau Mouton Rothschild has spoken about the direction of the Vinexpo exhibition, which is taking place in Bordeaux until June 23rd.
Speaking to The Drinks Business, director of Domaines Baron Philippe de Rothschild Xavier de Eizaguirre said the event is focusing on emerging markets, including not only China but also Brazil, while also remaining relevant to established markets such as the US.
He also praised the progress the town of Bordeaux has made in improving access to the expo for wine lovers from around the world.
"The issue used to be traffic and lodging, but both have been improved," he told the publication.
"We have more and better hotels and Bordeaux has changed so dramatically, the improvement has been incredible – the mayor Alain Juppe has done a fabulous job."
First launched in 1981, Vinexpo is a biennial show that has grown from relatively small beginnings to attract more than 2,400 exhibitors and 45,000 visitors every year.
