There are four 'perfect' wines from the 2010 Bordeaux vintages, according to the scores handed out by Decanter magazine.
First Growth estates Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Margaux and Chateau Latour all received 20 out of 20 from the publication, as did Cheval Blanc.
Decanter's experts all agreed that 2010 Bordeaux is an exceptional vintage, with James Lawther commenting: "Colours are deep, the tannin content high … and there's an extraordinary level of acidity."
Colleague Steven Spurrier singled out 2010 Chateau Margaux as "a truly great wine" with "unbelievable freshness and density".
In the second group of wines, receiving 19.5 points from Decanter, were Chateau Ausone, Chateau Palmer, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Leoville-Las-Cases and Chateau Haut Brion.
Bordeaux merchants are expecting strong sales of the 2010 vintage, despite the 2009s remaining popular.
Many have suggested that 2010 Bordeaux is of similar quality to 2009, but has completely different characteristics that will create a new market for the wine.
