Chateau Margaux chief winemaker Paul Pontallier is hopeful that Chinese wine drinkers can find elements of their own cuisine to complement his produce.
Speaking to China's People's Daily, Mr Pontallier has already taken its own steps to consider ways its wines can be married with Chinese food.
He told the newspaper: "We are not pretending to sell more wines here.
"It's all about our long-term commitment to marry the Chinese cuisine icon with French wine, and our long-term understanding on how Chinese culture marries French culture."
Decanter recently underlined the problem in an article considering how to match wines with traditional Chinese cuisine.
The magazine noted that few people appreciate how varied Chinese dishes are throughout the country, which can drastically impact on whether it's best to plump for an Italian red such as Bruno Giacosa or a Burgundy Puligny Montrachet to go with particular dishes.
