Chateau d'Yquem 1986: The wine for culinary royalty
The most successful restaurant in British history has welcomed more than 100 top chefs and industry figures to celebrate a quarter-century of retaining three Michelin stars - with wine featuring prominently in the celebrations.
Berkshire's Waterside Inn, which came under the ownership of Roux brothers Michel and Albert in 1971, invited Raymond Blanc, Heston Blumenthal, Marcus Wareing and many more to mark the restaurant's success.
It is the only restaurant outside of France to hold on to three Michelin stars for more than 25 years, as well as receiving accolades from the Zagat, Good Food and AA guides.
To complement the extravagant 25-course menu, the wine list began with vintage Champagne before moving on to burgundies, clarets and finally a chateau d'Yquem 1986 for dessert.
Speaking of the restaurant's success, Michel Roux commented: "The public has found out that British food is a great thing.
"All that has happened in the past 30 years."
