Chateau Angelus 'deserves recognition alongside Cheval Blanc'
Chateau Angelus owner Hubert de Bouard de Laforest is confident that his St Emillion is in the league of Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau Ausone.

In an interview with the Manila Standard Today, the vintner explained why he believed his wine deserved a Premier Grand Cru Class A rating.

He told the newspaper: "To me, the backbone of a St Emillion wine is the presence of Cabernet Franc.

"In fact, the percentage of our Cabernet Franc in our wine averages around 47 per cent, and is the only other Chateau in the area outside of Chateau Cheval Blanc to have that much Cabernet Franc in the wine."

Mr de Laforest was in Manila last month at a dinner organised by the Commanderie de Bourdeaux in the city, alongside Gildas d'Ollone of Chateau Pichon Longueville de Lalande.

His appearance at the dinner followed a Wine Maker's Dinner hosted by the pair in Hong Kong's Tang Court the day before.
