BYO Wine Club launches in London
Wine lovers have been offered the chance to bring their favourite bottle of Cos Estournel or Comte Lafon into the restaurant with them to enjoy with their meal, after a new club was launched in London.
Membership of the Bring Your Own Wine Club, which is currently being offered at £75 for the year, allows oenophiles to pay no or substantially reduced corkage fees when taking a special bottle of wine to a participating restaurant with them.
"Participating restaurants can attract and retain wine enthusiasts, a high-spending restaurant-going audience," said co-founder Khadine Johnson Rose.
"At the same time, wine lovers like us can share special bottles of wine with friends over a terrific meal."
Membership of the club also includes a regular newsletter, an insulated neoprene wine tote and access to a number of promotions from affiliated restaurants.
The club also recommends offering the sommelier a taste of your wine - "it's just a nice thing to do".
