Burgundy vineyard Domaine de la Romanee-Conti has created an internet site that chronicles the estate's history, winemaking ethos and vintage reports.
The move comes as a response to the high level of misinformation that is disseminated about Domaine de la Romanee-Conti on the web, according to Agence France-Presse.
Domaine de la Romanee-Conti director Jean-Charles Cuvelier told the news agency that the estate felt it was important to finally dispel some of these myths.
"It led to the creation of a real site where those interested in the property could find official information," he said.
However, it does not mean that Domaine de la Romanee-Conti is moving entirely into the public domain. Mr Cuvelier went on to explain that the site will not include blog posts or contact details, just factual information.
Confirmation that an English version of the website will soon be introduced is likely to have pleased British wine enthusiasts.
Research from the Burgundy Wine Board and the Hospices de Beaune recently revealed that Brits drink 13.5 million bottles of exported Burgundy each year - more than any other country.
