Asia's interest in Burgundy appears to be developing, with the latest Christie's wine auction in Hong Kong seeing a number of high-value sales.
One casino owner from Singapore spent £111,000 on a single case of 1971 Domaine de la Romanee Conti, the Drinks Business reports.
It was the largest Burgundy purchase in a sale that saw six bottles of 1978 Echezeaux go for £61,000 while 12 bottles of 1990 DRC La Tache achieved £77,000 - both far exceeding their original estimates.
Christie's Asia head of wine Charles Curtis told the news provider: "The sale demonstrated the continued strength of the great first growth Bordeaux . Burgundy values were strong, particularly for Henri Jayer and Domaine de la Romanee-Conti."
This week sees London auction house Bonhams host its own fine wine sale on New Bond Street, featuring fine Burgundy and Bordeaux.
One particular highlight of the auction is a jeroboam of 1986 Chateau Lafite Rothschild.
