The key to Bordeaux's exquisite taste is the region's unique terroir, according to one expert.
Wine trainer Sanjay Menon told the Daily Pioneer that its secret is the maritime temperate climate, as well as its geography.
A surrounding pine forest protects the region from Atlantic winds, while warm summers and rare frosts in winter work together with the variety of soils to create the perfect grapes, Mr Menon explains.
He goes on to tell the publication that fine wine comes with three distinct aromas - the first from the grapes, the second from the winemaking process and the third from ageing in vat, barrel or bottle.
"There is great diversity in the aromatic styles depending on the predominant grape variety," Mr Menon added.
Wine Spectator recently advised wine enthusiasts looking to try Bordeaux vintages that there are a host of affordable, quality bottles to be found outside of the Medoc region.
