The market for fine Bordeaux wine is a more stable and secure investment than stocks and shares, it has been claimed.

First Growth Bordeaux such as Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Mouton Rothschild can provide strong returns over time, Money High Street advises.

However, these First Growth Bordeaux labels are trading at quite a high value at the moment, so acquisition is expensive.

The publication advises looking for small Bordeaux vineyards producing high quality wine - the low production run may help the wine to retain its value.

"Overall, investing in wine can be a good alternative asset but, as with all investing, great care needs to be taken and input sought from a professional wine broker if appropriate," the website notes.

Lovethatwine.co.uk recently suggested that Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite Rothschild are offering the best wine investment opportunities at the moment, although it can be difficult to get hold of them in the UK.
