Travellers flying to and from Asia can now enjoy a classic sweet Bordeaux wine on their journey.

Singapore Airlines has decided to add the 2009 Chateau Filhot from Sauternes to its already impressive first class wine list, which includes top reds and whites from across Bordeaux and Burgundy, as well as vintage Champagnes.

Mr Tan Pee Teck, Singapore Airlines' senior vice-president for product and services, said that the Chateau Filhot will fill a gap in the wine list and provide the perfect accompaniment to the rich cheeses, fruit desserts and foie gras that complete first class meals.

"We are delighted to complement our current wine selection with the addition of this premium Sauternes, which will enhance our food and wine synergy on board," he added.

Christian Seely, the managing director of Axa Millesimes, recently told the Sunday Telegraph that Sauternes wine is one of the great undiscovered pleasures of Bordeaux, with few people being aware of the excellent vintages produced in the region.
