A new range of Bordeaux-inspired Tuscan wines will launch internationally in London next week.
Tenuta di Biserno is a joint venture between Lodovico and Piero Antinori. The project began after the pair obtained the vineyard in Bolgheri when looking to extend the Ornellaia estate, according to the Drinks Business.
However, after assessing diversity of the terroir, Lodovico Antinori felt that the site should be a separate entity from Ornellaia.
He decided to plant Bordeaux varietals Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, which produced the wines to be launched next week - 2007 Il Pino di Biserno, 2007 Biserno and 2007 Lodovico.
The Institute of Masters of Wine recently brought a number of Italian wines to London for a tasting at Vintners Hall.
It was billed by the organisers as a "first class opportunity" to try produce from vineyards such as Biondi Santi, Pio Cesare, Tenuta San Guido and Masi.
