Bonham's marks Fine and Rare Wines auction with Lafite Rosthchild 1945 sale
A bottle of chateau Lafite Rosthchild 1945 has fetched £1,380 at a Bonham's auction in London.

The vintage that coincided with the repossession of the vintner by Baron Elie de Rothschild following World War II was one of the highest priced lots at the event, which took place on July 1st at the New Bond Street auction house.

Two separate 12-bottle cases of chateau Lafite Rothschild 1986 fetched £14,950 and £12,650 in two separate lots, while a 10-bottle case of the same vintage fetched £8,970.

The highest price paid for a single bottle of wine was for a chateau Lafite Rothschild 1988 vintage, which went for £6,325.

Other notable sales were two 12-bottle cases of chateau Latour 1982, which were sold for £13,800 and £12,650 respectively, and two bottles of Petrus 1962, which fetched £2,530.

A 12-bottle case of chateau Marguax 1990 sold for £6,900, while a number of chateau Mouton Rothschild 1995 12-bottle cases sold for more than £2,000.
