Bollinger 'remains committed to UK'
The UK is still the number one market for Bollinger, despite a growing interest in fine Champagnes from Asia, according to the producer's managing director Jerome Philipon.
Speaking to the Drinks Business at the London International Wine Fair, Mr Philipon said Bollinger is still committed to its established markets in Spain, Italy and the UK, as Asia has little taste for large-volume consumption of Champagne at the moment.
"I've learnt over time that succeeding in business is about leveraging your strengths and where there is real knowledge and interest in wine, like old Europe, Bollinger is strong and we want to keep it like this," he went on to tell the magazine.
Bollinger traces its routes back to 1585 but did not begin trading under its current name until 1829, when the Champagne house was officially founded by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Levieux Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger.
