One of the most illustrious names in the world of fine wine is to receive a lifetime achievement award.
Baron Eric de Rothschild, owner of the revered first growth Chateau Lafite Rothschild, is being honoured by Wine Enthusiast magazine at its Annual Wine Star Awards.
The New York-born 70-year-old will be recognised for his work in Bordeaux fine wine, as well as his tireless commitment to Jewish charities.
As well as Chateau Lafite Rothschild, the banker owns Chateau Duhart-Milon, Chateau Rieussec and Chateau l'Evangile.
Chateau Lafite Rothschild is looking to position itself as the favourite Bordeaux fine wine for Chinese collectors at an auction next week (October 29th), as it sells 2,000 bottles of its finest vintages at a sale in Hong Kong.
Lafite's commitment to the Asian market is illustrated by the fact that these bottles, which span 139 years of winemaking, come from the vineyard's private cellar.
