Applications open for Master of Wine course

Wine lovers who can distinguish their Chateau Petrus from their Chateau Palmer have been invited to enrol in the first year of the Institute of Masters of Wine's (IMW) study programme.

Delivered in Europe, Australasia and North America, the programme includes seminars, course days and mentoring by Masters of Wine, of which there are fewer than 300 in the world.

A minimum of two years of study is required before sitting the examination, and more than 250 students from 28 countries are currently enrolled in the programme.

Lynne Sherriff MW, chairman of the IMW, said: "As ever, the level of interest has been very high and we now look forward to receiving applications from those who feel they are ready to embark upon their studies in pursuit of the Master of Wine."

Students in the programme are also being offered access to the winemaking teams at AXA Millesimes' properties, including Quinta do Noval and Domaine de l'Arlot in Burgundy.
