The price of 2010 Bordeaux will "set a new benchmark", according to one expert.
Wine consultant Steve Spurrier told Decanter that the 2010 vintage has "memorable" wines from both the right and left banks.
As such, he expects the record highs achieved by 2009 Bordeaux to be exceeded this year, with First Growth Bordeaux costing around $400 (£244) per bottle.
Mr Spurrier told the publication that a "new ceiling" has been established for Bordeaux wine values, while Jean-Guillaume Prats at Cos d'Estournel confirmed that 2010 Bordeaux will be at least as expensive as last year's release.
"There is a consensus in the wine trade that it is very unlikely that prices will come down on last year, and likely that they will stay the same," he explained.
Wine expert James Lawther said last week that Right Bank bottles will be the ones to look out for, as they are "fresher" than the produce of Left Bank vineyards.
