There is something for everyone in 2009 Burgundy, as the vintage is an "abundant crowd-pleaser".
According to wine expert Anthony Rose, writing in the Independent, the quality of 2009 Burgundy is such that demand for it is extremely high.
As such, Mr Rose suggests that any wine enthusiast who has not already purchased a case should do so quickly, before availability becomes limited and prices escalate.
He notes that many top Burgundy producers such as Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, Domaines Mugneret-Gibourg, Domaine Fourrier and Domaine Ghislaine Barthod are already sold out.
Mr Rose explained its appeal: "2009 is an abundant, immensely crowd-pleasing vintage for early to medium-term drinking with plenty of delicious chardonnay and seductive pinot noir."
The wine expert's opinion backs comments made by Jamie Ritchie, head of wine for North America at Sotheby's, who has also been effusive in his praise for 2009 Burgundy.
Mr Ritchie agreed that Burgundy enthusiasts should seek to get hold of the 2009 vintage as soon as possible.
