2009 Bordeaux 'will see rapid price growth'
Pricing for the lauded 2009 Bordeaux wines is due to be released soon and, judging from the glowing en primeur reviews of chateaux like Mouton Rothschild and Latour, connoisseurs will need to reach deep into their pockets to afford a bottle.
According to Hatim Dungarwalla, managing director of lovethatwine.co.uk, there is a great deal of expectation placed on the en primeur 2009 sales, particularly considering the strong interest from the Asian market.
"From all the reviews it is a truly great vintage and it is very likely that, with the amount of interest shown so far, the prices will go up quickly after the release of the first batches," he added.
However, Mr Dungarwalla stressed that the pricing seen so far of the more "down-to-earth" chateaux has been relatively good value.
Experts have predicted that Lafite Rothschild will be one of the most expensive wines for 2009, according to Thisismoney.co.uk.
