A wine magazine has declared that at current prices, 2007 Bordeaux represents the best value purchase for fine wine lovers.
Two 2007 Bordeaux wines claimed the top places in Decanter magazine's list of best buys. 2007 Chateau Croizet-Bages from Pauillac was number one, closely followed by the 2007 Chateau Marquis d'Alesme from Margaux.
The magazine's editor Guy Woodward said that 2007 Bordeaux may not have been a "fashionable" vintage, which means there are bargains to be had on some high-quality wines.
"With the 2009s – and most likely the 2010s – slipping further from the reach into the financial stratosphere, these more widely-available vintages offer renewed interest," he told the publication.
The latest Wine Fund Report stated that 2008 Bordeaux is a particularly good value vintage.
The en primeur release occurred at the depths of the global financial crisis, and although prices have picked up since then, the vintage remains relatively inexpensive.
