The flavour for today from Bordeaux is sweet. We have had the release of Doisy Vedrines (£216/Cs), Raymond Lafon (£249/Cs) and with particular note Suduiraut (£474/Cs): "Lots of honeyed botrytis character paired with some lovely bright pineapple fruit. Despite the 150g/L residual sugar this has verve and a real sense of harmony" 17.5+ F+R
And from the red corner we have had Sociando Mallet (£218/Cs), Haut Marbuzet (£220/Cs), Bellevue (£375/Cs) and every Gentleman’s favourite Tour St Bonnet (£73/Cs): "One of F+R's perennial favourites Tour St Bonnet doesn't fail to impress with a 2011 which is a riot of black fruit and classic structure. Well made and very classy." 16+ F+R
We are still surprised to see so many wines of this level coming out this week with the Wine Advocate due out Monday.
