Ducru Beaucaillou has actually done the unimaginable! - not only has it crafted a magnificent wine ("One of the vintage's stars" RP 93-95/100), but at £796/case this is the cheapest Ducru on the market (with the unexciting exception of 1997) and over £400 cheaper than it's close rival, Cos (at £1200/case).
And then there's the 2nd wine, priced like a 2nd wine, but scoring like a Cru Classe: La Croix de Beaucaillou 90-92/100 RP at an affordable, everyday claret price, £255/case.
Plaudits to Bruno Borie.
Ducru and La Croix 2011 deserve to be bought.
