Maison Champy

Maison Champy, created in 1720 by Edme Champy, has been run since 1990 by Pierre Meurgey and winemaker Dimitri Bazas. Pierre is keen to revitalise the estate's historic reputation and comes from a long line of winemakers, giving him and understanding of a family estate. Grapes come from 27 hectares of vineyards located in the Côte de Beaune and other appellations are sourced by long standing contracts mainly from the Côte de Nuits. Vineyard treatments are organic and biodynamic. The vineyard tasks are based around the cycles of the moon, and no pesticides or herbicides are used. Bottling is also according to the biodynamic cycle. Village, 1er Cru and Grand Cru wines stay in oak for up to 18 months, 30% new oak for 1er cru and up to 50% for Grand Crus.
