Showcase was designed with one aim in mind: to combine six excellent wines, in the prime of their drinking window, in a single case. With no other merchant in the UK offering a collection case of this level, Showcase presents an unparalleled opportunity to taste some great wines that are usually all but impossible to acquire in single bottles.

THE WINES

Travel clockwise through France's classic regions from Loire to Languedoc and round to Bordeaux. Although not all are household names, watch this space because the critical acclaim and pedigree behind these hidden gems make for compelling reading and even better drinking:

2016 Claude Riffault Sancerre Les Chasseignes - As yet unscored, but last year's was "one of the finest Sancerres" Wine Advocate tasted for their Loire Report.

2013 Château de Puligny-Montrachet St Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly - "This is lovely" according to Allen Meadows.

2014 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Classique - "Big, fruit filled and textured, it's a terrific wine in the vintage." - Wine Advocate

2015 Domaine de Triennes Rosé - An ever popular Provence rosé set up by Burgundian legends Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

2008 Domaine de l'Horizon Blanc - 92 points and this "impressive effort will gain in the bottle"  in the words of Wine Advocate.

2012 Domaine de la Solitude - This sensational Pessac is now under the same ownership as Domaine de Chevalier and Jancis Robinson calls it "good appetising stuff."

2016 Claude Riffault Sancerre Les Chasseignes Wine White

Chasseignes is a local name in Sancerre to refer to Caillottes, a shallow limestone soil. This wine is made on the outskirts of Sury-en-Vaux. Wine Advocate’s Stephan Reinhardt has said that “it is always exciting to taste the wines from Stéphane and his father Claude Riffault in Sury-en-Vaux, northern Sancerre” and although the 2016 has yet to be scored, the 2015 earned 93 points and was “one of the finest Sancerres” Reinhardt tasted last year. This is a glorious Sauvignon Blanc.

2013 Château de Puligny-Montrachet St Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly

Quality in St Aubin has been consistently on the up in recent years, and it is now considered to be a generally great place for value in white Burgundy. Bordering Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, the Premier Cru En Remilly is one of the village’s best sites and Château de Puligny-Montrachet has been getting steadily better since the arrival of winemaker Etienne de Montille. This 2013 was called “lovely” by Allen Meadows, with a score of up to 92 points.

Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Wine Red Bottle Buy UK Fine Rare Wines

Domaine St Prefert is run by the exceptional Isabel Ferrando, who, in the words of Jeb Dunnuck, “burst onto the scene in 2003” and as a result the domaine “has leapt into the handful of top estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape”. According to Dunnuck the 2014 Cuvée Classique is “a terrific wine in the vintage and represents good value”; it also has 4.5 stars from John Livingstone-Learmonth of Drink Rhone and 90-92 points from Josh Raynolds of the Wine Advocate.

Triennes Rose Wine Bottle Buy France Provence Dujac Romanee-Conti Fine Rare Wines

It isn’t often that two of the world’s finest winemakers team up to create a wine this affordable, especially when said winemakers are from two wineries whose creations sell for hundreds, often thousands, per bottle. The Provence based Triennes estate was set up by Burgundian legends Jacques Seysses of Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and the expertise in this beautifully refreshing wine is clear to see. With lifting acidity and bright red fruit, this may well become your new favourite rosé.

Domaine de l'Horizon Blanc White Wine Fine Rare Bottle Buy Cotes Catalanes Roussillon Bottle Buy

The organic and biodynamic certified Domaine de l’Horizon is located on the wild and craggy hillside of Calce in the Agly Valley near Perpignan. Its vineyards consist of 40-100 year old vines, caught at a convergence of the Mistral and winds from the Mediterranean. Winemaker Thomas Teibert has made wines across the world, including St Emilion’s Canon-La-Gaffeliere. This “impressive effort” earned 92 points from the Wine Advocate, while Jancis Robinson has been “particularly taken by how much flavour and sheer exuberance the Horizon wines” display.

Domaine de la Solitude Wine Red Buy Fine Rare Pessac Leognan 2012

The 2012 from Domaine de la Solitude blew us away when we tasted it in Bordeaux. Rich, deep and phenomenally well-balanced, it can hold its own against some really phenomenal wines. What's more, like many 2012s, is already showing surprisingly well. Domaine de la Solitude is a Pessac-Léognan château with great pedigree. It is now under the same ownership as fellow Graves estate Domaine de Chevalier and boasts some similar characteristics to its impressive stablemate. No expense is spared in the vineyard or winery and the quality is clear in the bottle.
