Jean-Yves Bizot

Jean-Yves Bizot operates to strict regulations when making his wines. A professor of viticulture and oenology, he has taken his experience and that of his neighbour Henri Jayer to develop pure, subtle and elegant wines that take time to open from his 28 hectares of old vines (often over 80 years of age) in communes such as Vosne Romanee. Whole-cluster, cool fermentation in conical wooden vats, no filtration, barrel by barrel bottling all lead to a unique range of wines; and you will find a reference to the barrel a wine came from on each bottle. Bizot also purchased some plots to the north that he considers “under-appreciated yet well known and highly regarded centuries ago” that are Bourgogne Le Chapitre and Marsannay Clos du Roy, both old-vine parcels.
